When Aer Lingus Divers (ALD) was founded we started off with the basics and relied on either shore diving or small inflatable boats to travel to and from dive sites. Now it’s slightly different!

FACILITIES

The club operates from the ALSAA complex near Dublin Airport . We have our own lecture rooms where our training takes place. We also have access to a 25m pool every Thursday night for water work training.

Located on the ALSAA complex is our boat compound, where all the

in-house maintenance on the boats is carried out.

Once a member of Aer Lingus Divers and ALSAA, you also have the ability to use any of the ALSAA facilities which include: water suites; bowling alley; running track; fully equipped gyms…….the list is endless!

BOATS

ALD is now one of the best-equipped diving clubs in Ireland . We use state of the art Rigid Inflatable Boats  or RIB’s as they are more commonly known and our fleet comprises of the following:

2

  • Seabird 1 - bought in 1992 and sold in 2005
  • Seabird 2 - bought in 1997 and sold in 2009
  • Seabird 3 - bought in 1998 and sold in 2009
  • Seabird 4 - bought in 2006
  • Seabird 5 - to be bought in March 2009

GADGETS

All our RIBs are fully equipped with an array of safety equipment including:

  • Global Positioning Systems (GPS);
  • VHF radios;
  • Depth sounders;
  • Flares;
  • Oxygen kits etc.

All of this equipment makes every trip to sea, not only smooth but also very safe.

AIR FILLS

It’s often the hidden cost of diving but in ALD there’s no need to worry. The club has  2 compressors for filling our SCUBA cylinders. Our compressors also accompany us on our many weekends or weeks away in Ireland, saving club members a fortune every year (filling your SCUBA cylinder in a local dive shop can cost between €8-€20 each time!).
